Heal Your Pain with Tapping

What is tapping?

Tapping, also known as the Emotional Feeling Technique (EFT), uses the body’s energy meridian points to heal physical and emotional pain. You can stimulate these meridian points by tapping on them with your fingertips, tapping into your body’s energy and healing power (TappingSolution.com).

How does tapping work?

The body is composed of energy. To mend the physical symptoms and negative emotions, you must return balance to the body’s energy. The basic technique requires you to focus on the negative emotion at hand: a fear or anxiety, a bad memory, an unresolved problem, or anything that’s bothering you. While maintaining your mental focus on this issue, use your fingertips to tap 5-7 times each on 12 of the body’s meridian points. Tapping on these meridian points, while concentrating on accepting and resolving the negative emotion, you will access your body’s energy and restore it to a balanced state (TappingSolution.com).

What are the meridian points?

Energy circulates through your body along a specific network of channels. These are called meridian points. You can tap into this energy at any point along the system. The concept of meridian points stems from the ancient Chinese medicine, referred to as “chi”. Acupuncture is similar to tapping, but it has 100s of meridian points where as tapping has only 12. Also, there is the benefit in tapping of no needles, just finger tips gently tapping (TappingSolution.com).

How can tapping help me?

Tapping can treat chronic pain, emotional problems, disorders, addictions, phobias, post traumatic stress disorder, and physical diseases such as cancer (Zamon, TappingSolution.com). To learn more about how to perform a tapping sequence visit this website.

Tapping for Weight Loss

Recently author Jessica Ortner has come out with a book relating tapping to weight loss and self acceptance. The core of this practice that weight gain is linked to anxiety or stress. Correcting the energy imbalance created by such factors helps restore the body’s energy and ultimately leads to weight loss (Zamon). The tapping sequence involves nine meridian points: the side of the hand, the top of the eyebrows, the side of the eye, the bone beneath the eye, between the nose and lips, between the lips and chin, just below the collarbone, underneath the arm, and finally, atop the head. While her book goes deeper into the exact technique she suggests, people are meant to tap each point seven times and repeat their “set-up statement,” such as “I accept myself.”
