Sound + Plant Medicine  

An educational Panel Discussion followed by Experiental Sound.

Sound has been sused in conjunction with plant medicine through the ages. In this tall you'll get to hear from experts about the way plants and plant compunds work in the body. Participants may learn some of the science evidence on sound and natural medicine and get some tips on how to consciously utilize these beneficial therapies.  

This event will be followed by Twilight Tuesday's Sound Energy Event

At this roundtable educational event we will discuss plant medicine and how they coupled with therapeutic sound in today’s climate as well as ancient times. We will talk about the science of sound and how vibration buoys our experience. Our experts will present some scientific and experiential data on these methods, with insight on plant compounts their therapeutic actions, effects and precautions . We will discuss how to create and foster your own personal techniques for creating deeper interactions with yourself and your environment through these complimantary practices.

Presenters: 

Katie Down, (LCAT, MT-BC, MM) is a Licensed Creative ArtsTherapist, music psychotherapist, trauma-informed somatic psychotherapist and adjunct professor at SUNY New Paltz. She has been teaching and facilitating sound bath meditations with Maha Rose for over 10 years and has been a guest lecturer in Deep Listening and Sound work at NYU, Vassar College, SUNY New Paltz, Hofstra University, Cal State Fullerton, and the University of Colorado.

Katie co-created the Sound School training at Maha Rose and continues to supervise sound practitioners who have completed their training there.

 She received her master's degree in Music Psychotherapy at New York University and post graduate certifications in trauma training from the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy and with Laurel Parnell for certification in EMDR III. She is also certified in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Reiki II.

Katie is the lead music therapist for the New York chapter of The Angel Band Project, a free music therapy initiative for survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence. Her private practice, Sound Well Creative Arts Therapy, PLLC, offers EMDR, mindfulness, sound and music therapy and she is based in Brooklyn and the Hudson Valley, NY.

Dr. Alex Ott is the Chief Scientist and Head of Product Development of KA! Empathogenics - with a mission to restore full-spectrum aliveness for all beings.
